The Spanish Association of Minority Shareholders (AEMEC) 4th annual meeting and the International League of Financial Litigation 3rd annual meeting were celebrated in Madrid this past 18th and 19th of May. Both conventions where closed with the award ceremony. Iberdrola was given the Euroshareholder prize for “Best initiative in favour of minority shareholders” in recognition of the new policies that involve more the shareholder. The price was received by Iberdrolas President Ignacio Sánchez Galán, who was thankful for the award and emphasise in the commitment the company has in defence of its shareholders.
Repsol was awarded the “shareholder-friendly” award, in recognition of its international dimension in the defence of shareholders, both national and international, after the expropriation suffered back in 2012. It was also received by its President, Antonio Brufau, who was really thankful for it.
The academic prize was awarded to Gaudencio Esteban Velasco, commercial law professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, in recognition of his academic career in the field of corporate law.
The awards were given by Bentia Ferrero-Waldner, President of the conventions organizing committee and by Javier Cremades, General Secretary of AEMEC and President of the International League of Financial Litigation. In this ceremony, they where present, among others, Henning Wegener, Executive Director of AEMEC and Jean Pierre Paelinck, President of the WFI.
